Privacy Policy
How VideoCompressor.net handles account data and private video files.
Ultimo aggiornamento: 2026-07-10
Scope
This policy explains how VideoCompressor.net processes personal information and video files when you upload, compress, and download a video. We use uploaded media only to provide the compression service requested by you. We do not use your videos to train generative AI models.
Information We Process
We may process:
- Account information such as your name, email address, locale, and authentication records.
- A signed Guest session, remaining Guest Credits, expiration time, and coarse abuse-prevention signals. We do not need a long-term raw device fingerprint to provide a Guest wallet.
- Sanitized display filenames and technical media metadata such as bytes, duration, dimensions, codec, progress, and output validation results.
- Operational data such as Job and Batch identifiers, queue timing, worker duration, Credits transactions, estimated cost, deletion status, and stable error codes.
- Billing records from Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers.
- Essential cookies for authentication, security, locale, and the seven-day Guest Credits session.
Private Media Processing
Video files are uploaded directly from your browser to a private Amazon S3 bucket. The application server signs and records the upload but does not proxy the video body through Vercel. Objects are not public and downloads require a short-lived, owner-authorized URL.
AWS Batch workers read only the assigned input object, create the requested output, report progress, and clean temporary scratch storage. Administrators can view technical metadata and status for support and operations, but the product does not provide an administrator control to preview or download your media.
Retention and Automatic Deletion
We minimize media retention:
- Incomplete multipart uploads are actively aborted within 24 hours.
- Input videos are scheduled for deletion when a Job reaches a terminal state, and no later than 24 hours after upload.
- Guest, Free, and PAYG outputs expire 7 days after completion.
- Active subscription outputs expire 30 days after completion. Batch outputs use the applicable 7-day or 30-day period from the time the Batch finishes.
- Failed outputs and temporary files are scheduled for immediate deletion.
Application cleanup runs regularly and records an audit result. S3 Lifecycle rules provide a final safety net if application cleanup is delayed; they are not used to extend the download window shown in the product. Minimal Job, billing, Credits, security, and deletion-audit records may remain after media deletion where needed for account history, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and service reliability. Presigned download URLs are not stored in the database or email.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Authenticate users and restore Guest sessions.
- Validate entitlement, estimate/reserve/adjust Credits, and operate compression Jobs and Batches.
- Process subscriptions and PAYG purchases.
- Prevent abuse and enforce per-user and global cost budgets.
- Diagnose failures, retry infrastructure operations, verify deletion, and improve reliability.
- Send account, payment, security, and requested service notifications.
Product analytics events do not include filenames, video content, presigned URLs, credentials, or callback tokens.
Service Providers and Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We use service providers only as necessary to operate the service, including Vercel for the web application, Neon for PostgreSQL, AWS for private media storage and compute, Stripe for payments, and configured transactional email providers. Providers process data under their own security and privacy obligations. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect users, the service, and our legal rights.
Security
We use HTTPS, private object storage, short-lived AWS credentials, owner-scoped authorization, short-lived download links, access controls, callback verification, and automated deletion. No system is perfectly secure; please avoid uploading media you are not authorized to process.
Your Choices and Rights
You may update account details, cancel a subscription, delete an available output early, or close your account. Depending on your location, you may also request access, correction, export, restriction, objection, or deletion of personal information. Some billing, fraud-prevention, and audit records may be retained when legally required.
Changes and Contact
We may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected by the updated date and, when appropriate, an in-product or email notice. For privacy questions or requests, email support@videocompressor.net.
